Relevant and value added topics include (but are not limited to) negotiations, strategic sourcing, best practices in supply management, risk management, self development and leadership. Additionally ISM-Akron , Inc. will bring in local businessmen, politicians, educators and economists to address local and regional topics which impact our local businesses and supply management fields.

Monthly Dinner Meetings
There are seven different opportunities throughout the year for local professionals to lean, develop and grow professionally. Meetings start in October and run through May, excluding December.
This scholarship award is presented annually* to assist deserving undergraduate or graduate student(s). The scholarship was established by ISM- Akron, Inc.  in honor of George E. Price, Jr., a former member of the affiliate and national president of the association, for his contribution to the field of industrial purchasing.
One (1) $1,000 scholarship** will be awarded to a full time undergraduate or graduate student meeting the minimum qualifications. In addition to the $1,000 scholarship, a maximum of four (4) individual $500 scholarships** will be awarded to part time or full time undergraduate or graduate students meeting the minimum qualifications.
* The Board of Directors of ISM-Akron, Inc. at its sole discretion, may elect to suspend
the scholarship program at any time for any reason.
** Amount of scholarship subject to change without notice.
Eligibility / Qualifications:

Qualified applicants must be in a Supply Management related program and have attained junior, senior, or graduate student status in a Supply Management related program in the upcoming year.

$1000 Scholarship Eligibility/Qualifications:
  • Major: Supply Chain Management related program
  • Undergraduate student/Graduate student
  • Junior, Senior, or graduate student in upcoming year
  • Full time status
  • 3.0 minimum GPA (undergraduate)
  • 3.2 minimum GPA (graduate)

$500 Scholarship Eligibility/Qualifications:
  • Major: Supply Chain Management related program
  • Undergraduate student
  • Junior, senior, or a student at a lower level admitted directly to the Business College
  • Part time or full time status
  • 3.0 minimum GPA
  • Additional requirements for graduate students:
  • First year level graduate student
  • Part time or full time status
  • 3.2 minimum GPA
  • Eligible first year graduate students that do not have a GPA may use their final undergraduate GPA from their respective University

The purpose is to assist an outstanding student(s) to achieve a quality academic education by providing moderate financial assistance to qualified applicants.

A secondary goal is to encourage the pursuit of studies within the purchasing or materials management discipline. 


The Scholarship Awards Committee will review all applications as defined by their internal process, in conjunction with the selection process of each university. 


Please submit your application to the local university’s scholarship coordination office as directed by their respective and advertised schedule.

Your application should consist of:
  1. A cover letter that describes (sell yourself) why you should be selected for this scholarship.
  2. A current resume that includes name, address, local telephone number, expected date of graduation, academic achievements, extracurricular activities with offices held, work experience, other accomplishments and merits, and a phone number where you can be reached during the day.
  3. A brief essay on “what you believe is the most difficult challenge for today’s Supply Management professional” and “why”.

Selection Review:

The winner(s) will be notified in April and the award funds will be distributed to the university’s financial aid department. No person may receive more than two Association scholarships over the course of his or her undergraduate or graduate enrollment. The Board of Directors will review the recommendations of the Scholarship Awards Committee and make the final determination of the recipient(s).
